This section covers some of the more detailed and nuanced talent interactions for Devastation Evoker, including the spec’s major damaging cooldown, Dragonrage<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n

Dragonrage<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Dragonrage<\/a> is Devastation Evoker’s major offensive two minute cooldown. When activated, Dragonrage<\/a> casts one Pyre<\/a> per enemy in a 25 yard range, up to a maximum of three.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Any active Charged Blast<\/a> stacks apply to all such Pyre<\/a> casts before resetting. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over its duration, Dragonrage<\/a> guarantees that Essence Burst<\/a> activates on all casts of Living Flame<\/a> and Azure Strike<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Animosity<\/a> encourages you to hold your Empower abilities and use them during Dragonrage<\/a> to extend its duration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Titanic Wrath<\/a> has clear and direct synergy with Dragonrage<\/a>, further encouraging you to activate and spend Essence Burst<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tyranny<\/a> ensures full Mastery: Giantkiller<\/a> value for the duration of Dragonrage<\/a>, and is a highly valuable talent node, allowing Devastation to continue to deal relevant burst damage later in an encounter, particularly with a late Bloodlust<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tip the Scales<\/a> is also on a two minute cooldown, and is typically used to instantly cast a maximum rank Empower spell inside Dragonrage<\/a> to minimise downtime. Eternity Surge<\/a> is often cast at Rank 1 (one to two targets), and is typically only cast at maximum rank in high target count AoE situations. Fire Breath<\/a> is generally cast at Rank 1 or Rank 2 to maximize DoT uptime, but can be cast at maximum rank for burst damage, or when supported by Everburning Flame<\/a>‘s DoT extension mechanic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Leaping Flames<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Leaping Flames<\/a> causes Living Flame<\/a> to hit additional targets after casting Fire Breath<\/a> based on its Empower level. These additional Living Flame<\/a> casts can damage additional targets, or heal nearby allies, preferring targets to match the original cast whenever possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each instance of Living Flame<\/a> damage or effective healing has an independent chance to activate Essence Burst, and it is possible to earn two stacks of Essence Burst from a single cast of Living Flame<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each instance of Living Flame<\/a> damage or effective healing also seems to have an independent chance to activate Snapfire<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Effective healing from Living Flame<\/a> contributes to the damage bonus afforded by Scarlet Adaptation<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The damage bonus from Scarlet Adaptation<\/a> also affects all instances of Living Flame<\/a> produced by Leaping Flames<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The various interactions between Living Flame<\/a>, Scarlet Adaptation<\/a>, and Evoker healing reinforce Ancient Flame<\/a> as a solid talent choice, encouraging the use of Emerald Blossom<\/a> and Verdant Embrace<\/a> as filler globals without observing a significant loss to damage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Charged Blast<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Each instance of Blue spell damage adds one stack of Charged Blast<\/a> (max 20), increasing the damage of your next Pyre<\/a> cast by 5% per stack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each individual tick of Disintegrate<\/a> grants one stack (four total), and both Azure Strike<\/a> and Eternity Surge<\/a> can generate multiple stacks per cast based on the number of enemies hit, including Eternity Surge<\/a> casts activated by Scintillation<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Charged Blast<\/a> stacks are fully consumed any time a Pyre<\/a> is cast, including when Pyre<\/a> is cast by Dragonrage<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Charged Blast<\/a> effect is applied to all instances of Pyre<\/a> cast by Dragonrage<\/a> (max 3), making this interaction particularly potent against stacked enemies in AoE.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With respect to Volatility<\/a>, any Charged Blast<\/a> effect applied to the original Pyre<\/a> does not apply to subsequent instances of Pyre<\/a> generated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Volatility<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Volatility<\/a> causes Pyre<\/a> to have a chance to repeat its cast, causing a new Pyre<\/a> projectile to erupt from the initial primary target towards a second target hit by the initial Pyre<\/a> AoE. This effect can repeat indefinitely, causing Pyre<\/a> to continue to repeat onto a random eligible target hit by the previous projectile, as long as two or more targets remain alive and within range. This talent has no effect when Pyre<\/a> is cast on a single target.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The single most important thing to note about Volatility<\/a> is that Pyre<\/a> projectiles caused by Volatility<\/a> are never<\/strong> affected by talent interactions such as Charged Blast<\/a>, Titanic Wrath<\/a>, or Iridescence<\/a>, and do not<\/strong> inherit such buffs from the original Pyre<\/a> cast under any circumstances. The projectile created by Volatility<\/a> is a unique instance of Pyre<\/a> that is completely unaffected by such interactions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The following calculations describe the Expected Value<\/strong> of the damage increase provided by Volatility<\/a> in terms of the base value of Pyre<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two talent points add an average of 42.9% of Pyre<\/a>‘s base damage<\/strong> per cast of Pyre<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

While Volatility<\/a> has few talent interactions, it does have a couple of noteworthy ones. Each Pyre<\/a> cast during the initial cast of Dragonrage<\/a> has an independent chance to activate Volatility<\/a>, with the caveat that of course these Pyre<\/a> casts do not inherit stacks of Charged Blast<\/a> as previously explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each instance of Pyre<\/a> caused by Volatility<\/a> also interacts with Causality<\/a>, causing Pyre<\/a> casts to further reduce the cooldown of Eternity Surge<\/a> and Fire Breath<\/a> through a high variance but highly impressive synergy. This coupled with Pyre<\/a>‘s instant cast time allows for significantly longer Dragonrage<\/a> duration extension via Animosity<\/a> than would be feasible in a typical single target rotation, particularly when supported with external Haste like Power Infusion<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Iridescence<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

For 10 seconds after casting an Empower spell, the damage of your next two spells of the same colour is increased by 15%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
